The Beauty of CandlesIt’s interesting to note candles’ play in history. Before Christmas trees were adorned by colorful ornaments, candles were already in the picture. The first Christmas tree only had candles as its decorations. For centuries, before the invention of electricity, candles were the source of light of every home. They were a necessity and have only become decorative materials when electricity was introduced. Candles may have a serious purpose of giving off light but they have fun variety in size, shape, pattern, design and even material as not all candles are made of wax. They are also an array of colors and candle containers such as bowls, decorative cans and jars.

Consider the different choices you have in decorating your space with candles. Make sure that you use those that fit the room’s look (bear in mind your theme), especially the furnishings where you will put your candles. A safe option is to use white candles, a color that goes with anything.

If you want to decorate your space and create an oasis of sensual scents, why not envelope your senses in scented oil candles that completely melt away and fill your home with delectable delights like vanilla and lavender, spiced rose, pumpkin pie, or raspberry delight. Make your home smell like a florists shop, a linen closet, or Christmas dinner.

Big spaces are the ideal place to put big candles in bigger candleholders as well. In parallel, small candles are fit for small spaces. Candleholders may also differ depending on your style preference. If you want to go beyond the usual candle holders, you can use any deep set bowls, put some water halfway into it, accessorize with pebbles or custom made colored stones, then place candle votives inside. This is a really pretty centerpiece for your coffee table or your dining table for a romantic dinner.

There is no need to worry about finding your dream candle. Every department store, specialty shops, boutiques and online stores carry a candle line in their selection. Two brands you will always see are Yankee Candle and Glade, the most popular candle makers. Although Glade is a bit more expensive, both do give you your money’s worth. So whether you scrimp or splurge, you’ll definitely get the good stuff.

Candles can be combined with area rugs for a splendid effect. Candles are colorful and completely capable of making any home or office warm, or sophisticated, or elegant, or sensual, or romantic, or vibrant- candles are an extension of your personality and style that you can match with a woven or braided area rug. Imagine a darkened room lit only by the light of a hundred candles…you lay out a romantic dinner on a warm, soft area rug and you can have an evening of romance without even leaving the house.

Once lit, candles are more than just pretty piece of art in your house they become beacons of light when the power goes out, or, as written above, when you want an evening of romance with your loved one, or when you want to celebrate a birthday. A caveat regarding candles; when lighting candles be careful. Try not to set fire to the family heirloom rug that you inherited from your Grandma Georgina.

Now that you know all about Candles, so it’s time to decorate the rest of your room! ;)
