Simple Ways to Create Your Favorite Room Sometimes we are often struck by one particular room in the house that can possibly be our special nook. In order for the room to be our favorite part of the house, we have to do more than just “connect” with the room. Of course, it also has to look good! You would want this place to be your very own – not just restful and peaceful to your senses but equally appealing as well.

Decorating is the ultimate step to change, accent or improve a place. Before you can start doing so, prepare your favorite room by emptying it out of furnishings. Old stuff are the first to go albeit temporarily. When the room has been cleared, you’ll see the room with better eyes and a new perspective allowing you to visualize how you would like it to look after its makeover.

The next step is to work on the walls. Unlike pieces of furniture, the walls can’t be moved out for an overhaul. Changing the way it looks depends on color. Suiting the walls to your new interior means repainting, which also means that whatever remaining furnishings you have in the room should be covered up or evacuated out of the room. Consider carefully how you would like the room to change so you can better choose your new wall paint and save you the hassle of repainting over and over again.

After the walls comes the work on the floor. Unless you have a budget for a complete refurbishing work, your next best choice is to touch it up a bit and give it a good scrub. Good news is, floors usually maintain their condition for a long time, therefore altering the floor covering to a new one isn’t really necessary. A good way and an easy one too to totally spike up a floor are to add floor decors such as an area rug. It’s a simple accessory but it can effectively change how a room looks from a brightening or more subdued appearance depending on the rug’s size, design and color.

Area rugs are not an uncommon sight in many homes. They may seem simple decorating materials but they have been around for a long time, accentuating and improving the way billions of rooms look. In putting an area rug to your room, consider its main purpose. If you want it as the focal point of the room, get a Persian or Oriental rug with attractive colors or design. Meanwhile, if you want to accentuate some other furnishings in the room, find an area rug that has a complementing color. If on the other hand, you are after its functionality like a sturdy base for your tabletop, get a rug that with a high quality, often thick material to do its job.

When you’re done with the floor, you can now add some furniture and other decorations. Bear in mind your likes and preferences and be as creative as you want. For sure, you’ll be the constant lodger of this room anyway, so taking into account what you like is expressing yourself through this room. Just ensure that the decors you choose, regardless of how many, are fitting and looks good with the rest of the room.
